Jacqueline Thomas is inspired by the world around her and the beauty it has to offer. There is so much to see and appreciate. Jacqueline grew up in the deserts of the southwest before moving to Florida at age 10. There she would find a lifelong passion for the water and its sea-life. Her family's hobbies quickly became boating, fishing and snorkeling. In 2005 she found a niche in creating these high contrast, black and white, abstract collage-type works. They incorporate movement and set the scene for the flora and fauna that would typically be found together.
Although Jacqueline loves bright, vibrant colors in her acrylic or oil paintings, for her black and white art, she uses a mixed media of pen & ink, markers, and black watercolor. She loves to hide details in her work and pair certain fish next to the bait or lures one would use to catch them with.
Jacqueline has always been an advocate for wildlife and sea-life conservation, and has teamed up with organizations and charities over the years such as; The Coastal Conservation Association, EcoLife Gala, Casting For Cats, Anacostia River Clean Up, and others where she has donated art and or merchandise to help aid in raising funds for great causes.
Moving around the U.S. Jacqueline landed in places like the Bayous of Houston, TX, the deserts of Las Vegas, NV, and the oceans and mountains of San Diego, CA before arriving in Boise, ID in 2019. Jacqueline and her family are in awe of Idaho's beauty everyday. They soak up the outdoor adventures with mountain biking, hiking, skiing, camping and kayaking. She lives with her husband, their two young sons, and their family dog and cat. "My love and passion for nature comes from each of these great places I've been fortunate enough to have lived in or traveled through. I can only hope to see more of our beautiful world and draw inspiration to share with my kids and to create fun and lively artwork."
Jacqueline was diagnosed with Breast cancer in December of 2024 and is still fighting hard to be here and appreciate each day. She hopes that environmental conservation efforts will gain enough steam and help so her children's generation will be able to experience the magic of the Earth's creatures the way she was able to.
